Siri co-founder says goodbye to Apple

A couple of weeks ago when the iPhone 4S was announced one of the standout features of the device were its Siri voice control option. This sought of feature had been available to some extent on the Android platform, and there were early concerns about the Siri app understanding certain accents. Now we can tell you that the Siri Co-founder has said goodbye to Apple.

According to an article on AllThingsD, Dag Kittlaus who was the co-founder of the company responsible for the Siri voice control feature has left Apple. The departure is thought to be on friendly terms and was in the pipeline for a while.

It is thought there were a variety of reasons that Kittlaus left the company, which included being closer to his family in Chicago. It is also believed he wanted just to take some time off, and wanted to think up some new entrepreneurial ideas.

Kittlaus was vocal in his support for Apple and its efforts since Siri was snapped up by the smartphone manufacturer in April 2010. He was the CEO of Siri since 2007, and was previously an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Stanford Research Institute as well as working for Motorola.

It is being claimed that Kittlaus left Apple just after the iPhone 4S was launched, and that other high level executives at Siri will remain in their positions at Apple though. The device despite its new voice control is still causing some users concerns regarding battery life.
