Similac Recall 2010: Formula Products Recalled

Recalls have really taken their toll on companies this year, and now we have news of another. Abbott Laboratories have just announced the voluntary recall of some of the company’s powdered Similac baby formula in a few Caribbean countries, Guam, Puerto Rico and the US.

However, Emily Bryson York from reports that the liquid formula products are not affected by the recall. The reason behind its recall is that there might be a possible contamination from a common beetle.

Abbott’s spokeswoman Melissa Brotz said the company would do everything they can to maintain parents’ trust. Abbott pointed out that the FDA had not found any health risks to children who consume the formula.

Although the company’s press release states that there is a chance children could experience symptoms such as gastrointestinal discomfort and refusing to eat, if they do consume the formula affected.
