Ship Mate For iPhone: Celebrity Cruises App

With so many cruise lines in the world, it is often hard to choose which one is for you. However, for those who want a holiday with that something extra, then maybe you should consider Celebrity Cruises. For those of you who are already considering this, then we are pleased to say that there is a shipmate for the iPhone with the Celebrity Cruises app.

Cruise Ship News has first hand experience with these ships, and were impressed with the level of service that you get when on board. Looking at the app that has been developed, they seem to offer more than their rivals in this area also. The app in question is called Ship Mate and costs $1.99 on Apple iTunes, which was very surprising, as apps like this are usually free.

There are many features to this app, some good and some pointless. Let us start with the one negative feature, and that is the location feature. No point having this on the ship, as your TV in your room offers that information for you without the need for a Wi-Fi connection. Having said that, it is good for friends and family you left at home who wish to know where you are in the world.

If you have booked your holiday, then you will be able to see a countdown until the ship departs from port — a great way to make certain that you have all you need before you set sail. However, the best feature is the deck plan, as you will no longer get lost — something that I did on my first cruise a lot.

The other positive feature is how you can add contact details and images of friends that you have met while on board. Have you used the Celebrity Cruises App? How does it compare to the apps of rival cruise lines?
