You may remember that last week we reported on Bugatti’s Veyron Super Sport hitting 267.8 mph to set a new world record. Well while we all sit there thinking that this cannot possibly be broken, Shelby SuperCars have had other ideas.
For quite a while now Shelby and Bugatti have been playing a cat and mouse game with outright top speeds. First blood went to the Veyron setting a speed of 253.8 mph back in 2005, then 2 years later SSC released the wrath of their Ultimate Aero TT to take the title. But as reported Bugatti now has the ball back in their court with the Veyron SS.
According to sources at Jalopnik however, SSC are not going to roll over on this one and have a new supercar on the cards set to debut this summer. The American manufacturer will surely be attempting to regain the crown with its new Jason Castriota-designed model. We will be keeping you posted on any news of future attempts, watch this space.
