If you are a big fan of The Lord of The Rings, you will most likely have one eye on upcoming game, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. It’s scheduled for release this year, but the latest news on the game is about potential similarities to Assassin’s Creed 2.
Shadow of Mordor is being developed by Monolith Productions, whereas Assassin’s Creed 2 we all know was developed by Ubisoft. The game is an open world RPG and looks really promising based on recent gameplay that was released.
However, gamers have picked up on the similarities between the two games with some claims being suggested that Shadow of Mordor has ‘copied’ animations and game design directly from Assassin’s Creed 2.
Digging into this theory deeper, some Tweets from a former Ubisoft developer Charles Randall suggest that something may be going on here.
Randall worked on the first two Assassin’s Creed games and upon seeing the first gameplay for Shadow of Mordor, he had this to say:
Seriously, can someone tell me how Assassin's Creed 2 code and assets are in this Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor game?

Another plot twist is that Shadows of Mordor design director Michael de Plater used to work at Ubisoft as a creative director, but didn’t specifically work on Assassin’s Creed 2.
As we await further details on this, we can bring you some comparison gameplay for you to draw your own conclusions on.
Has Shadow of Mordor ‘ripped off’ Assassin’s Creed 2? There’s no denying that it looks like a great game in the making though, regardless of the fallout that may be going on behind the scenes.
