Seattle lifts Uber Taxi app restrictions

Uber has had a few issues in the US, but nothing like we have seen in Europe, and to rub salt in the wounds that are in favor of the Uber Taxi app; Seattle has lifted the restrictions imposed on the service, along with other taxi apps as well.

When these services first started they came with a bunch of limits, and seeing these reversed for Uber, Lyft and Sidecar will now mean that they have to register as transportation network companies. By doing so they will now be able to meet insurance requirements, something that has been a huge issue for the likes of Uber.

That’s not the only positive outcome for Uber Taxi app and other similar services, as GeekWire reports that the 150-driver limit that was set has now been removed, which makes sense when you consider that Uber has around 1,000 drivers in Seattle.

To help keep the peace and make things fairer, Seattle city council will impose less restriction on normal cab drivers.

It’s not certain if the lifting of Uber Taxi restrictions is just going to remain a precedence in Seattle, or if other cities will follow? We guess we will just have to wait and see.

If you are in favor of Uber and have already been enjoying the apps, then you might have experienced the Uber Taxi app Android issue with getting the correct location, more details of which can be found in our recent article.

Sloppy journalism. No, Seattle did not lift any restrictions on UberX or Lyft. The Mayor sponsored a mediation between a few stakeholders that came up with a half-baked agreement. These are just recommendations to the City Council which will probably be ignored.
