Samsung Ultra HD TVs: Netflix 4K streaming incoming

Samsung has a long line of Ultra HD TVs hitting the market this year and they have announced that Netflix 4K streaming is also incoming. In March the movie and TV subscription service will start delivering content to Samsung UHD TV owners as an incentive to boost sales.

The biggest fear with 4K Ultra HD TVs is the cost, with a majority of consumers being priced out of buying one. Samsung wants 2014 to be the year of the UHD TV and has predicted that 1 million units will be sold, 3.3 million by the end of 2017.

As a part of their future UHD strategy, Samsung will offer a 4K starter pack to buyers which includes the Netflix subscription. This deal includes a 1 TB hard drive with 50 pre-loaded 4K movies including Star Trek and Life of Pi. It has been announced that new films and content will become available to download throughout the year, costing around £250 according to reports.

Another big reservation from the market with UHD is the current lack of content available to make it a worth while proposition, whilst more is being offered it is still quite a limited amount altogether. With Netflix offering their content in 4K, it brings a lot of fresh new options to customers, with the exclusive streaming rights to TV shows and recently released films.

This should help to make up the minds of would be buyers who are still undecided as Netflix is already an extremely popular service, upgrading content to 4K would provide a huge appeal. Whilst consumers will still have to fork out a lot of money to buy the UHD TV, it could be that the perks that Samsung are offering will sweeten the deal and boost sales.

Will you be looking to buy an Ultra HD TV this year and would Samsung’s 4K starter pack persuade you to buy from them over others?
