If you thought that the patent war between Apple and Samsung was starting to die down, think again. Some leaked transcripts from the upcoming court case between the two technology giants have appeared online, with Samsung claiming that it is actually Apple who are the ones who have been ‘stealing’ technology from the start.
The all important court battle is due to take place in California next week and it could have major implications for both companies and their future projects depending on who emerges victorious. Apple has painted the picture in previous months with the blame solely placed at Samsung, but new information revealed by the Wall Street Journal gives Samsung’s side of the story.
Samsung is going to be bringing their own fighting talk to the court battle against Apple and according to the Korean manufacturer, Apple would have not sold a single iPhone back in 2007 without stealing Samsung’s technology which they allegedly developed 20 years ago prior to that date.
Here’s a little piece of the evidence which Samsung will present to the court in its entirety:
“Apple relied heavily on Samsung‘s technology to enter the telecommunications space, and it continues to use Samsung‘s technology to this day in its iPhone and iPad products. For example, Samsung supplies the flash memory, main memory, and application processor for the iPhone. . . . But Apple also uses patented Samsung technology that it has not paid for.“
There’s no denying in what Samsung has said there above is true. The iPhone does use a lot of Samsung’s components, so it will be interesting to see what the judge makes of Samsung’s case. Samsung has been made up to be the big bad wolf in all of this, but imagine if the judge actually deems Apple guilty of ‘stealing’ Samsung’s technology?
One way or another, it is going to be a very interesting tussle next week. This patent war has gone on for far too long already and it’s fair to say that all smartphone owners would like a line to be drawn after the battle is over. If you were to make an early prediction – what do you think the outcome is going to be?
Do you still believe that Samsung is the guilty party here or not?
