The original Samsung Galaxy Tab was released last year, and unlike the iPad was a device which could fit into a large pocket. It wasn’t a massive hit and has since seen the launch of bigger devices from Samsung. Now we have news that Samsung are to launch a second generation 7-inch Galaxy Tab, and it could be available in time for Black Friday.
Intomobile are reporting via Italian website HDBlog.it, the smaller of the Galaxy Tabs is set for a refresh by the fall of this year. The new device is rumored to have the 1.2 GHz Exynos dual-core processor which you can currently find in the Samsung Galaxy S2.
Other new specifications include 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM. 2GB of ROM, Micro SD, and 7-inch IPS display. You will also have the ability to make voice and video calls as well as send SMS, and it is also thought to have USB host capabilities via an adapter which will plug into the devices docking connector.
It is not thought the new device will be running on Android Honeycomb, but will use Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread. This may disappoint many consumers if the new 7-inch Galaxy Tab isn’t running Honeycomb, but this could change leading up to release.
