Later this month sees the Mobile World Congress event being held over in Barcelona, Spain. We will undoubtedly be treated to some great new smartphones from various companies. Samsung meanwhile has announced they will be at the show but their next Galaxy S smartphone will not be making an appearance. We now have news that Samsung is to hold a mystery event in March but it is not known what the event will be for.
As reported previously Samsung would hold a special event to showcase the Galaxy S3, but there was no date provided for this except for the first half of this year. Now it is being reported that Samsung has scheduled an event on March 22nd in France, and according to Unwired View it may be about the Galaxy S3 release.
Until this is confirmed by the company it remains purely speculation and it could quite as easily be something specific for the French market. There has been much speculation in recent weeks about the new Galaxy SIII smartphone, which will reportedly come packing a 12 megapixel camera with a quad core processor.
It will obviously come running the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and continue to use the Super AMOLED HD display that is currently found on the current model. Another report recently suggested the handset would only be 7mm thick.
Samsung may be looking to take a leaf out of Apple’s book and begin using separate special launch events to showcase its flagship products, which could eventually happen with other products such as its tablet range. There has even been speculation the Galaxy S3 could release in March so there is a chance we will see the device then.
Do you think we will see the Samsung Galaxy S III in March?
