Samsung Pay has been teased for a while now, and so it came as no surprise to learn that the payment service will be coming to select 2014 and 2015 Samsung Smart TVs. However, before you get too excited and think that yours will be on the supported list, we need to warn that the list is not a very big one.
The idea behind bringing Samsung Pay to some of its TV models is to make the buying process for apps, in-app purchases, movies and books far simpler. The new payment service will be called Samsung Pay on TV, and allows you to enter your credit or debit card details, or even link up to your Pay Pal account.
To make the payment service secure so that not all people can pay for items while using your TV, you will need to set up a four-digit pin, which will need to be entered each time you go to purchase something. There are other sign-in options, which are better explained on the Samsung website.
We do not have a complete list of supported TVs that will make use of the new Samsung Pay on TV. The only way to check for support is to run an update for your Samsung Smart TV and then see if the feature has been added.
This makes us wonder if Apple TV will come with Apple Pay support by using the iPhone 6, 6 Plus or the new iPad for its fingerprint scanner?
