Samsung Orion: Processor of Choice for Smartphones in 2011?

Samsung recently announced their upcoming dual-core Orion processor for mobile devices, and by the looks of things this chip will be a huge jump in terms of 3D and HD capabilities.

Apparently the Orion has five times the 3D performance when compared to the previous generation of Samsung processors, this should give devices that utilize the Orion 1080p video encoding and decoding capabilities.

Apparently these chips will also feature an embedded GPS, a triple display controller along with an on-chip HDMI 1.3a interface, this basically means that you should be able to output to two external HD displays.

All this power does sound great, however I can’t help but worry that battery life will be extremely poor, which may put off smartphone manufacturers such as HTC, Motorola, Nokia and Samsung.
