Samsung Nexus S 4G: Release Date ETA and Price on Sprint

AT&T may have just announced a deal to buy T-Mobile, but Sprint are certainly showing no signs of slowing down their 2011 smartphone train. We’ve just told you about the HTC EVO 3D, and now we can confirm that the Samsung Nexus S 4G is on the way too. We have release date and pricing information to share with you.

We first gave you information on the Nexus S 4G arriving on Sprint here, but now we have official details. The device will be releasing this Spring, and it will be largely the same handset as the T-Mobile Nexus S, but with a few notable differences.

The first is obviously 4G WiMAX support hence the name, and another difference is that it will be offering a stock version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the first 4G handset to do so in the US. The handest will have specs such as a 1Ghz processor, a 5 megapixel camera, 4-inch display, front-facing VGA camera, and built-in Google Voice support.

You’ll also get a useful option to turn off the WiMAX support if you want to conserve a bit of battery power and like the T-Mobile version, there’s NFC support as well. As for the all-important pricing, the Nexus S 4G will be priced at $199 on a two-year contract with Sprint. You can view the official press release here for more details, while users may be interested in the interactive Nexus S page on the official website here.

What are your thoughts on the 4G version of the Nexus S? Are you interested in this, or do you prefer to buy a new handset equipped with a dual-core processor? This one only has a single core 1Ghz chip after all.
