Samsung Moment 2 (M910): First image – Android 2.2 Froyo?

For fans of the Samsung Moment, we have some juicy info for you – as we have the first image via the FCC of what looks to be the Samsung Moment 2, or Samsung M910 handset.

As reported from Phandroid, the device has just passed FCC testing, meaning that a release could be available before the end of the year – likely to be on Sprint first of all.

A few images were supplied with the FCC listing, with the main one giving you a decent look at the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Phandroid mention that the Moment 2 is likely to come packed with a 1ghz Cortex-A8 processor, along with at least a 3.5-inch AMOLED screen.

Will this device run the latest version of Android 2.2 Froyo, or will it still come packed with Android 2.1? You know which one we’d prefer. Let us know your thoughts on the upcoming Moment 2.

I was really happy to get the Samsung moment. I was actually pretty happy with my old Blackberry Curve, but I lusted for a droid phone. It looks great and does a lot of things that y Blackberry couldn't do…but with drawbacks. My biggest complaint, aside from android crashing on a daily basis, is that for some reason, when I'm on a call, the phone will start launching other apps. I assume that it's because my cheek or cheekbones are too close to the screen, but that's not supposed to happen. Like, sometimes my face will make a "butt call"… Read more »

Ok yeah there is no moment 2 it is the galxy s if you read what samsung was boasting it fits the descript except the key board The intercept is the economy moment like honda’s fake economy vtec or omne of those iclone iphones you know But evo 4g is a good phone I agree with whoever posted a plug on that it just has horrible battery life my hacked rooted flashed and pimped samsung moment is neck and neck with all my friends evo 4gs only exception is I have better battery life and there phone are not maxed… Read more »

So, the Intercept is a step down from the Moment. Slower data rate and no AMOLED screen. If you are still waiting for the "Moment 2" you should wait for the Epic 4G (Sprint's Galaxy S device). All the +'s of the HTC Evo plus the slide out keyboard.

yeah the whole thing pisses me off, I’m not switching to sprint for the evo, I want the moment, being its almost june and a moment 2 might come out, why would I buy something that will be outdated in a month? It just doesn’t make sense but maybe the first moment was rushed.

The turn around from FCC approval to distribution seems to be under a month now so I am optimistic we will see both the EVO4g and Moment 2 in June. Either way guess I am switching to Sprint. I just hope these are in stores so I can compare them. The EVO screen is tempting but I want to know how cumbersome it is in my pocket. I also MUCH prefer the physical keyboard to a virtual keyboard and the moment 2 seems like the first Android phone to offer one with a respectable screen res and processor.

good advice, especially the wait till the last possible day thing. And the reason I "have" to switch is cause i'm one of the last Helio holdouts and Sprint just brought us so we literally have to switch to something else by May 25th or completely lose phone service

Similar situation for me. Here's my plan – if this phone is given a release date with the ambiguous "late Q4" or "sometime in Q1" then I'll go with the existing Moment with Android 2.1 update. If Moment 2 has a quick release (June), then I'll wait for it. I can't see that happening with Sprint if Android 2.2 is on this phone unless the difference between 2.1 and 2.2 has no impact on the carrier's add-ons. I've also learned to accept this about technology – find some I like, commit to it for a given timeframe no matter what… Read more »

Get the a Moment or Hero on the last day possible. Then return it and swap it for an Evo before your 30 days are up. I have the current Moment (the keyboard, better screen, and faster processor sold me on it over the Hero), and I'm rooting for the Moment 2, but honestly the Evo is just higher spec based upon what we know. The screen is almost a whole inch bigger, processors are comparable and the Evo probably has more onboard memory seeing how Samsung has an SD card fetish. Only advantage the Moment 2 may have would… Read more »

The cell phone market is starting to piss me off. I'm planning on buying a phone soon but it seems no matter what I do I cant just buy one phone right now and have it stay "new" for any significant period of time. Every time I turn aroudn their is some new crap. I want to get the current version of the moment but between this announcement and the unveiling of the Evo 4G coming this summer..i'm starting to wonder how they expect us to keep up? lol BTW i have until May 25th to switch over so i… Read more »
