Samsung Galaxy S5 carbon fiber finish solves dilemma

When it comes to the design of the Galaxy S4, it’s clear that there are those of you unhappy that Samsung stuck with polycarbonate, while rival devices like the HTC One have been getting more praise because of a far more superior build quality. However, we know that Samsung is looking to address this issue, but we will have to wait till next year for the outcome.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Material — There’s been several rumors as to what material Samsung will go with, but the smart money is on aluminum, as metal seems to be all the rage at the moment. However, there is a strong possibility that Samsung will go with something different.

Some recent news could suggest that we could see a Samsung Galaxy S5 with a carbon fiber finish. So why would Samsung go with this over metal we hear you ask? Well, carbon fiber would be able to address a dilemma that so many phone makers have come across, and that is to try to make phones tough, while keeping the weight down.

Motorola already come up with a handset with a carbon fiber finish, or Kevlar if you want to be technical with the DROID RAZR. While the phone was not as popular as the company had hoped, we have to say it did have a good quality feel, it just lacked in other areas, something that the next Galaxy S phone will not.

The reason we suspect Samsung could be looking at alternative materials rather than metal for their next-gen smartphones is because of a recent joint venture with Samsung Petrochemical and SGL Group, where they are to create new products made from composite materials, such as carbon fiber.

Okay, so we know that the Galaxy S5 is not mentioned directly, but because they are to work on devices such as electronics and electronic media, it stands to reason that smartphones would be one of those devices.
