Samsung Galaxy S4 stock update following shortages

Earlier today we discussed if the Galaxy S4 would be able to change the face of mobile technology, and if it could ever hope to be as popular as the S3. It’s clear to see there are more interesting phones already on or coming to the market, but the early signs look good.

We say this because there is now a series of Samsung Galaxy S4 shortages, which is being felt by most US carriers that had intended to start shipping this new flagship later this month, and ready for delivery in the first few days of May.

According to AllThingsD, Sprint had planned to launch the S4 on April 27, but they have now had to change this because of unforeseen circumstances. They said the Galaxy S4 will be delayed slightly because of this, but will still be able to start selling these online and in-store, although no shipping date has been given.

The T-Mobile Galaxy S4 release has also been pushed back because of inventory deliveries being delayed. They had planned for the latest Samsung smartphone to be available online today, but have now pushed this back till April 29, which is Monday coming. These handsets will be available in brick and mortar stores from May 8, 2013.

Things are a little different for AT&T, as they are still set to release the S4 on Saturday, which shows they were ahead of the game with getting enough stock in. Samsung offered a Galaxy S4 stock update stating that the overwhelming demand has lead to these inventory shortages.

If memory serves, Samsung had this same issue with the Galaxy S3, so it makes you wonder why they have not learned from this. Having said that, Apple has the same issue each year, because after the first few hours of a new iPhone or iPad going on sale shipping then falls back to at least 2-3 weeks?
