It is that time of year again when we are just days away from a new Droid smartphone announcement. The elusive Droid DNA is going to be unveiled at an official event very soon and before that happens, we have a brief comparison for you to take a look at, which compares how the Droid DNA specs lines up against the might of the Samsung Galaxy S3 – one of the best Android handsets available right now.
With exception to perhaps the Galaxy Note 2, the Galaxy S3 is probably the best Android phone available at the moment. Samsung are in the midst of bringing the Jelly Bean update to all carrier versions at the moment, although it has to be said that there is still no sign of Jelly Bean appearing on the Verizon Galaxy S3.
The Droid DNA on the other hand is rumored to ship with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box, so that is one problem solved for most of you already if you are starting to grow tired with the Jelly Bean waiting game with your current handset. As we told you in a previous article, the Droid DNA is scheduled for an announcement on November 13. If the device specifications line up with a similar model in Japan that launched recently, fans could be in for a treat indeed and the Galaxy S3 on Verizon could be dropped in an instant.

There is a growing sense of feeling at the moment of the bigger display, the better amongst consumers. While the Galaxy S3 features a lovely 4.8-inch AMOLED screen, we’re hearing that HTC is going to outdo Samsung with a 5-inch 1080p based display for the Droid DNA.
This could be a familiar story with other areas of the device as well, in the camera department for example, as the Droid DNA is rumored to be shipping with a whopping 12MP rear sensor, backed up by a 2MP front camera – easily eclipsing the cameras fitted on the Galaxy S3 which are an 8MP rear and 1.9MP front respectively.
The Droid DNA is going to be rocking the latest Snapdragon processor as well, with a rumored 1.5Ghz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip taking on the Exynos 4412 quad-core chip fitted inside the Galaxy S3. The Droid DNA may even eclipse the Galaxy S3 in the RAM department as well, with a rumored 1.5GB of RAM compared to the 1GB that is seen inside the Galaxy S3 – it is worth pointing out that the HTC J Butterfly, the Japanese variant of the DNA has 2GB of RAM, so we’ll have to wait and see if it matches up on November 13.
As we look down the other specifics between the two devices, we definitely feel that the Droid DNA has more than enough features to be a worthy contender to the Galaxy S3’s throne. Jelly Bean out of the box is a massive bonus of course, while music lovers will still be glad to hear that the Beats Audio features remain exclusive to HTC handsets and will be featured on the Droid DNA.
