Samsung Galaxy S2 Review: Close-up, first impressions

The new Samsung Galaxy S2 is a smart looking device, as Samsung attempt to repeat the success it had with the original Galaxy handset. Today we have a Samsung Galaxy S2 review with close up first impressions of the new handset.

Mat Smith from has spent four days having a play around with the Galaxy S2, and first impressions were how light the device was. Compared to the many other handsets including the LG Optimus 2X they had in the office, the new Samsung made them all feel bulky.

Samsung have somehow managed to cram a lot of stuff into the handset which is lighter and thinner than the original. The model being used came with 16GB of memory but can be expanded by an extra 32GB with a micro SD card.

They were impressed by the handsets simple looks, and the single home button alongside two Android buttons underneath the screen. Volume and screen lock buttons are on each side along with a headphone socket and micro USB port, resulting in a smooth uncluttered feel to the handset.

The small phone charger was also another welcome feature, and the 4.3-inch Super AMOLED was pretty impressive. The back panel of the phone once taken off felt rather flimsy, but how often does a back panel need to be removed?
