Samsung Galaxy S III to only have dual-core engine?

Since Nvidia announced their new Tegra 3 processor there have been many tablet PCs and smartphones rumored to be getting it. The next Galaxy S handset was one of them rumored to be powered by the chip sometime next year. But now following the unveiling of a new processor could the Samsung Galaxy S III only have a dual-core engine powering it?

Samsung have revealed their latest processor to the market called the Exynos 5250, and according to TechRadar is a 2GHz unit that is the successor to the 4210. This is the processor that currently powers the Galaxy S II, so there is a good chance the dual-core Exynos will find its way to the new model next year.

The company is claiming that graphically the new processor is four times faster compared to its predecessor. It will also support stereoscopic 3D and have 2560 x 1600 resolutions, and this will mean the processor will also find its way onto the next generation of Samsung tablet PCs, and other devices touting big screens such as the Galaxy Note range of handsets.

Specifications of the new processor include a memory bandwidth of up to 12.8 Gbps, and have been built with the low power HKMG 32nm process with two ARM-based Cortex A15 cores. Samsungs new processor is thought to be the first of its kind for mobile devices to clock 2.0GHz.

With all these new powerful and fast processors being developed for mobile devices, we will just have to hope manufacturers provide the batteries to go with them.
