Samsung Galaxy S: Android 2.2 Froyo Update – Release Date Imminent?

We have an update for those patiently waiting for the Android 2.2 Froyo update on the Samsung Galaxy S, and it’s particularly good news. It has been revealed that the source code for the device has now been released and is available to use.

As Phandroid reports, this isn’t necessarily a confirmation that the official Android 2.2 Froyo update is coming, but the release of the source code does mean that a unofficial Froyo ROM for the Galaxy S is likely to follow soon.

Considering the speed of which the XDA-Developers operate, we predict that a custom version of Froyo will be available very soon indeed. The best thing of all, is that these unofficial ROMs are often better than the official versions that manufacturers put out.

If you are a Galaxy S owner reading this, hang on in there – help is on the way.
