Samsung at CES 2012: Aiming for attention

Fan of Samung products? Looking forward to CES? You have come to the right place as today we will concentrate specifically on Samsung at CES 2012 – so sit back and relax while we pull in information from multiple sources to give you a run through of some of the Samsung products which will be revealed during the company’s hectic CES 2012 schedule.

Most of you guys will know the all important CES 2012 dates and times, however just to recap the Consumer Electronics Show kicks off on January 10th and ends on January 13, during this time Samsung will be showing off many different products in many different categories, here’s what we know about so far:

Firstly it seems to us as if TVs will be a big concentration for Samsung this year, this VR-Zone article tells us about Samsung’s high-hopes for transparent LCDs, however we are more than concerned about rumors suggesting these panels only manage a 1366×768 resolution – not to mention the fact that most people don’t really want to see what’s behind the TV.

OK so we are not fans of the transparent TVs, but we do like the sound of smart TVs, currently there are two main rumors doing the rounds regarding smart TVs, so let’s run you through them both. Some people believe that the new HDTVs which appear at CES will come with Android pre-installed and Internet connectivity out-of-the-box (WiFi we presume), obviously previous Samsung TVs have offered ‘Smart’ functionality and Internet connectivity, but if you head over to SlashGear and watch the video embedded at the bottom of this post you will clearly see that Samsung seem to be promoting something new and better than ever. We think integrating Android would be a massive step in the right direction and would like to see Android take on Apple TV and iOS. Alternatively we may just see Samsung TVs with Google TV integrated, either way it looks like set-top boxes etc are slowly becoming a thing of the past.

We have recently told you all about a new 55-inch LG OLED TV which is said to make its debut at CES 2012, perhaps Samsung will also reveal an OLED display as we have seen prototypes in the past, but never a product which consumers can buy. suggests that OLED will be one of the hottest technologies at CES 2012 – so it would be in Samsung’s best interest to reveal an OLED TV, even if it is nowhere near the size of LG’s 55-inch behemoth.

Samsung had a great year in terms of smartphone and tablet launches in 2011, we predict that we will get a taster of new products which fall into this category at CES 2012 – but with the recent launch of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the imminent launch of the iPad 3 from Apple don’t be too surprised if Samsung takes the opportunity to reveal a new tablet to the World running Ice Cream Sandwich out-of-the-box. believes this and let’s face it the Galaxy Tab 10.1 made its first-ever appearance 11 months ago and Android has improved a lot since then, therefore we presume Samsung will want to keep the ball rolling by revealing a tablet which will arrive later on in the year.

That’s pretty much all we know so far, however before we leave you let’s just tell you that the Samsung Chief and his son are set to attend CES 2012 – we are pretty sure that they wouldn’t attend unless they had something exciting up their sleeves!
