Saints Row: The Third trailer cheekily mimics Battlefield 3, MW3

THQ has started to build itself a reputation of having quite a good sense of humor when it comes to their Saint Row series; the third installment is proving to be the funniest yet. The crazy far-fetched genre that they are famous for makes them as popular as they are. To add to the comedy, THQ has just released a Saints Row: The Third trailer that cheekily mimics Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare3.

We previously brought you a Saints Row: The Third trailer back in July, which depicted the very nature of the game down to a tee. The trailer featured bank robberies, missile dodging, mid-air pistol firing and high speed car chases, everything you’d expect from an action game. The subtleties of Saints Row are the bits that give the game its unique sense of humor, like the bank robbers being disguised with masks of themselves and using a man dressed as a tin-can as a skateboard.

Today’s trailer takes the comedy factor a step further by having subtle digs at arguably the two most eagerly anticipated games of the year, Battlefield 3 and MW3. While it may not be that obvious to someone who has not seen a trailer from either of the other two games, those that have will have noticed straight away.

As CVG explains the video starts with the signature radar scan lines that MW3 uses in all their trailers but instead of being green they are Saints Row purple. It also features the fuzzy distortion between clips combined with the deep electric riff that the Battlefield 3 trailers use. Check it out for yourself below, where you will see more of the far-fetched action the game has become famous for.

Are you a fan of the Saints Row series? What do you think of the subtle digs the trailer has at the FPS games?
