A few days ago we brought you an article about the much-anticipated Saints Row 3 (AKA Saints Row: The Third) game, announcing that it had been given a Christmas 2011 launch window. We now have a few more details for you, including some disappointing news about multiplayer.
According to a recent article by Jim Sterling over on the destructoid.com website (via NeoGAF), the online competitive multiplayer mode has been removed for Volition’s upcoming Saints Row: The Third game, although gamers will still be able to play the co-operative mode.
A welcomed new feature is the ability to upgrade your weapons. For example, players will now be able to put under-barrel grenade launchers and sniper scopes onto their assault rifles. Fans of the series also might like to know that Shaundi and Johnny Gat will be making a return as accomplices.
Another new feature is the RC gun, which enables players to shoot an electronic bug that allows them t o control vehicles remotely. This too will be upgradable, allowing you to control air support or tanks. The game also features 3 new gangs: the Morning Star, The Deckers and STAG.
Players will be able to complete the missions in a variety of ways. For example, you can choose to either blow up an important skyscraper or just simply take the building over. A levelling system has also been introduced into the new game, allowing you to kit out your character with new weapons and perks.
