There does not seem to be a day goes by without another product being recalled — the latest is the “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” charm bracelets. The reason for the recall is due to high levels of cadmium being found in the kid’s jewelry.
If children are exposed to this, then they have a risk of suffering damage to their kidneys and bones. The bracelets were sold between 2006 and March 2009 at dollar-type stores — they featured characters from movies such as Rudolph and the Abominable Snowman.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is advising that parents should take the products from their children and just throw them away – it is not worth offering a recall on such a cheap item.
Thankfully there have not been any cases where a child has suffered from cadmium poisonings. For more details on this visit Associated Press
