Roku May update improves Search and Feed

Roku has announced a May update for all its hardware, which includes the new Roku 2 and Roku 3 streaming devices. The company felt the need to issue new features to help fend of the threat it faces from rival set-top boxes.

What’s new with Roku this month? The biggest feature being brought to the hardware by way of a software update is Roku Search, which allows you to search the database of movies and TV shows quickly and easily.

However, this feature is limited at this early stage, and so you can currently only search for content from Netflix, Popcornflix and Snagfilms, although increased support will happen over the coming weeks and months. That is not all; you can also search by actors and directors.

As for the new Roku Feed, this will give you updates to information on upcoming movies and when they will become available to watch on-demand.

Now we are just waiting on Roku to update its Android and iOS apps, seeing as these were last updated on May 1, and April 10 respectively.

If you have downloaded and installed the new update, then please let us know what your first thoughts were.
