Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 release anger

One of the major announcements at GamesCom 2014, was the full reveal of Rise of the Tomb Raider. It’s a sequel to the successful Tomb Raider reboot, but the big news is that it is going to be a timed-exclusive release on Xbox One.

It means that for the foreseeable future, there will not be a Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 release date and as you can imagine there has been uproar on social media, with gamers once again accusing Microsoft of cashing in and widening the gap further with those who say platform exclusives are not good for the industry.

For Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners though, it’s another dream come true. Rise of the Tomb Raider is coming in Holiday 2015 and you can only play the game on these platforms.

Since the big announcement, we have had clarification from Microsoft who say that there is a ‘duration’ attached to the deal, but obviously are not willing to say how long it is for since it remains confidential between Microsoft and Square-Enix.

We have since seen petitions set up trying to get Square-Enix to reverse their decision, but we think most of you are well aware that this isn’t going to happen – we can only imagine the amount of money that was necessary to make such a deal possible.

How do you feel about this deal, PlayStation owners? Do you take comfort in the fact that it won’t be exclusive forever, or are you upset about this considering that the first game in the reboot came to PlayStation platforms?
