RIM’s BlackPad Or Apple iPad: What do you want from Santa?

The iPad rival Research In Motion’s BlackPad could see the light of day as early as next week. It will be going up against the iPad which has sold around four million units so far, and to some may be a lost cause. But with the right planning the 7inch tablet could exploit the iPad’s biggest weaknesses, and be a big success this holiday season.

Damon Brown of Bnet is reporting that the BlackPad will use two different ways to get users online, a Wi-Fi connection and BlackBerry tethering. While both devices have Wi-Fi, the BlackPad tethering will allow customers to make use of their current cell phone plans.

The BlackPad won’t be tied to one particular cell phone carrier, AT&T and their problems could have slowed down sales of the 3G iPad. With the tethering option the user can make their own choice of carrier.

Also users are becoming aware of the iPad’s limitations, launching FaceTime without the device having a built in camera. While we wait for a new iPad it will give other devices a chance to gain their own audience, and with the BlackPad RIM have quite a good chance of that.

Are you going to buy a BlackPad? Or do want one of the other tablets coming to the market?

I think if I was buying a new iPad I would wait to see what the iPad2 offers. So many of these wannabes have built their devices including lessons learned on Apples original iPad. But to be honest I do not need a camera in my ipad for either taking pictures or making face time calls, that's what I have a phone and camera for. Multitasking is coming to the iPad in November I think. As for launching the iPad and facetime in the first place then all the bloggers/pundits/experts said it was useless and would never sell. Guess they… Read more »

hmm, I prefer iPad.__Though BlackPad might have many features, even iPad don't have, but I think it lose, first the name "BlackPad" is after iPad, second, it's later after iPad so much time!!____So I'll stick with my iPad, It is perfect! Much nicer than any CPU I have ever owned. For work, all my other computers would do a lot of things I would never use it for, and do it painfully in the process (slow, buggy, etc.). When you get down to what you do most on you personal computer… the iPad does almost all of the things an… Read more »

Can’t wait for apple to make more junk that’s going to suck as hard as this pos iPhone I’m typing on now ever so slowly because the kb interface is so awful. If I were to buy a pad, it would probably be the upcoming samsung tab. But I doubt I will. Whats the point. I they basically amount to touch screen gameboys.
