RIM BlackPad Tablet: No Hardware or Release Date at DevCon 2010

We have some breaking news to bring you now, as prior to RIM’s big keynote at DevCon today, it has been confirmed that the company will not be unveiling the rumored BlackPad tablet as previously speculated.

The news comes from this exclusive tipoff by BGR, who have obtained their information from their sources, even labelling it as a ‘confirmation’.

Apparently, RIM’s Mike Lazaridis will be using the event to unveil the company’s next operating system, which will be used on a next generation tablet device. While we’ll probably get solid details on this new OS, there won’t be any hardware to demonstrate on, unfortunately.

The event is due to start soon, we’ll be bringing you all the major developments as it happens live. Let us know your thoughts on this. Were you expecting to see new hardware from RIM today?
