Revised Nexus 4 storage, rather than Nexus 5

There have been a number of discussions in regards to the Nexus 4 successor, as it is widely accepted that the one major concern with this handset is its limited storage, so it came as no surprise that the successor would get an upgrade in that department.

The most recent rumors had suggested that the Nexus 5 would come with increased storage, faster processor, larger screen, and the all-important Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, and would be announced next month during the Google I/O event. However, things may have taken an unexpected turn.

If we are to believe the latest rumor, then we may be looking at a revised Nexus 4 with increased storage rather than the release of the Nexus 5 in 2013. The Nexus 4 32GB model complete with LTE and CDMA is said to be more likely than LG releasing the Nexus 5, because these are the key things lacking on the current model.

However, we have to remember that we have to take this rumor at face value, but it could still happen. We say this because this Nexus 4 upgrade could be a stopgap until Google and LG release the Nexus 5 later this year. Releasing the Nexus 4 successor in May would be far too soon, but November would be an ideal release date.

Having said that, there are still some consumers who believe that we will never see the release of a Nexus 5, as LG will just release the new version and continue to call the handset the Nexus 4. This does makes sense, as in a few years time they cannot call it the Nexus 7 can they? Then again, because the Nexus 4 has a 4.7-inch screen this is the reason for its name, so if a future model is released with a 5-inch screen or above, then they will surely call it the Nexus 5?
