We have some exciting news for Resident Evil fans now, as Capcom has just confirmed that a new game is on the way . It’s called Resident Evil: Raccoon City and we have release date information for you and a confirmed list of platforms that the game will be on.
We previously hinted about the new game in a previous report here, which then tagged the game as Operation Raccoon City, due to a prior leak from a magazine. We also told you that the game would be coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3, but we can now confirm that the game will be coming to the PC as well, and it will drop Operation from the title.
Capcom has said that the game will be out during the Winter period, so it will either be out during December, or the early part of 2012, obviously fans will be hoping it’s out at the end of this year, what a nice Christmas present that would be.
In Raccoon City, you’ll take the role of a Umbrella Security Services member, either playing on your own or as part of a four person co-op team. You’ll visit familiar Raccoon City locations from both Resident Evil 2 and RE: 3, and one character that has already been confirmed to be returning for the game is Leon Kennedy, as reported from VG247.
What are your expectations on this new game? After having played Resident Evil 5, is there anything different you want to see in terms of gameplay? Should they keep to the same formula, or introduce something completely new? Obviously they are going with the co-op flavor again after seeing how well RE:5 faired, which isn’t a bad thing since the last game was pretty good we thought.
Are you looking forward to this ‘team-based’ Resident Evil title or not folks?
UPDATE: Forget what we said about the game dropping Operation from the title. New intel has just confirmed that the game will indeed be titled Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and it’s still due out this Winter. Glad that’s cleared up.
