Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Xbox 360, PS3 release date

Fans of the zombie infested horror games from the Resident Evil series will be delighted with the news we have today. If the announcement of the next title, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, wasn’t enough, Capcom has just confirmed the game’s US arrival date for the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

We first brought you news of the game when it was officially announced back in March and was thought to be arriving at the end of the year, then in August details suggesting that the game could spell distater for the franchise emerged. Now we can confirm that the game won’t arrive until March 20th next year. Along with the release date confirmation, comes details of special edition and extra content versions of the game which will be available when it is pre-ordered from certain stores.

According to The Sixth Axis the participating retailers that have been revealed so far are Best Buy, Amazon and GameStop. When the game is pre-ordered from any of these stores two additional weapons unique to each store as well as six extra costumes for the playable characters will be received. The special edition version of the game will feature eight bonus weapons, a Spec Ops Field Unit embroidered patch, an Umbrella Security Service embroidered patch, a stylized foil sleeve and a steelbook cover with exclusive boxart.

Other details on the game remain scarce at the moment but screenshots are thought to be on the way soon. Capcom have also announced that they will be bringing updated versions of the Nintendo Wii games Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles and Umbrella Chronicles to the PS3.
