Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360, PS3): Review Scores Justified?

As most of you will be aware by now, Red Dead Redemption is now available to buy on either the Xbox 360 or PS3 in the U.S. The game received pretty amazing reviews – now that you have had a chance to play it, do you think the review scores are justified or not?

Sometimes games are overhyped and often our high expectations for games fall short once we actually play them first hand. Considering that RDR was the work of famed developers Rockstar, it almost seemed a certainty that this game was going to be good.

The reviews seemed to back this up, once they were released a few days ago. IGN gave the game a 10, CVG a 9.5, Edge a 9 and Eurogamer an 8.

After playing the game, do you think the review scores are a fair reflection on the game or not? Take Edge’s score of 9 for example. These are the same guys that offered Final Fantasy XIII a 5/10 remember. What does RDR have that Final Fantasy XIII doesn’t? Excitement and originality perhaps?

Let us know your impressions of the game so far. Is Red Dead Redemption one of the best games you’ve ever played?
