Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360, PS3): Review Scores Justified?

As most of you will be aware by now, Red Dead Redemption is now available to buy on either the Xbox 360 or PS3 in the U.S. The game received pretty amazing reviews – now that you have had a chance to play it, do you think the review scores are justified or not?

Sometimes games are overhyped and often our high expectations for games fall short once we actually play them first hand. Considering that RDR was the work of famed developers Rockstar, it almost seemed a certainty that this game was going to be good.

The reviews seemed to back this up, once they were released a few days ago. IGN gave the game a 10, CVG a 9.5, Edge a 9 and Eurogamer an 8.

After playing the game, do you think the review scores are a fair reflection on the game or not? Take Edge’s score of 9 for example. These are the same guys that offered Final Fantasy XIII a 5/10 remember. What does RDR have that Final Fantasy XIII doesn’t? Excitement and originality perhaps?

Let us know your impressions of the game so far. Is Red Dead Redemption one of the best games you’ve ever played?

Ok seriously, it shouldn't even be called FINAL Fantasy!!! Final if I'm not mistaken means last, as in no more. After Final Fantasy 2 wouldn't that be considered an oxymoron??? This is like The Never Ending Story…which by the way ended after an hour and 45 minutes…then had a sequel called…wait for it…..The Never Ending Story 2!!! WTF?!?! Shouldn't it be called More of the Never Ending Story That We Couldn't Show You Due To Time Constraints??? Ok, so I propose that Final Fantasy now aquire the rights to be known as ….. The Never Ending Story That Had Nothing… Read more »

zeeleel tell me you joken about the hooker thing man get yourself a girlfriend.and you give a 10 game 8.5 cause of some hookers.cause u cant look at a fake pussy or you got it bad

@grecko, You wouldnt complain if the GTA series managed to make it to 13 games (btw its not actually the 13th game, its more like th 26th or 27th game) RDR gives you more options to explore the world and do almost anything that was possible in those days, plus its something new, not many western games have been made, the best i had played before RDR was GUN. Final Fantasy would have gotten a much higher score if it had kept all the great things from the previous games and added with the new things from 13 and it… Read more »

Very good game. I would give it an 8.5. It gives you freedom to run around on your own and do your own thing. Its just like grand theft auto but back in the day. I love taking out the law enforcers and stacking up my money to buy new guns. Its a real creative game. final fantasy XIII did not deserve to be called final fantasy. It was one of the worst games ive played in a couple of years. I back their ratings up 100%. The only thing that I don't like about the red redemption is that you… Read more »

Fantasy XIII is just that. 13!!!.. No series should ever have a 13th addition no matter how good it is. RDR deserves the scores it has received, while Final Fantasy should be thankful they even got a passing grade.
