Rebranding to New MacBook, no Pro or Air in 2012

We are almost 24 hours away from WWDC and it is time for a last minute look at the possibilities for a 2012 MacBook Pro and Air, which we’re hearing could be involved in a major shake up this year. Some of the latest rumors point to Apple changing the branding and entire MacBook line.

It was only a few days ago that we saw signs pointing to not only new MacBook Pro and Air, but also other products in this sector like the iMac and Mac Pro. These rumors originated from a price matrix although shortly after this we found a label seemingly pointing to the specs for a new MacBook Pro, which were hard to believe at first glance.

We’re also hearing that Apple could finally decide to discontinue the 17-inch MacBook Pro in 2012, and there could be a rebranding on the entire MacBook line. We saw Apple favor “The New iPad” for the 3rd generation and it’s possible for a “New MacBook” branding to take place at WWDC 2012, which is given more weight when you consider how alike a thin MacBook Air and Pro would become this year, so New MacBook with varied specs seems like a simpler approach.

MacBook buyers can become confused when buying a MacBook Air or Pro, and with the so-called professional version moving towards a thinner form factor like the Air, one name with different levels of features could be a solution.
