How many times have you been on the move, travelling, or out for the day and found your iPhone has lost its juice and left you unable to make that important call? Well this scenario may well be a thing of the past thanks to the Reactor iPhone 5 case, which is currently in the prototype stage.
The Reactor case features an integrated generator cleverly hidden inside the casing and is charged via a manual crank stashed into the rear of the Reactor. There is an integral battery built inside that stores enough power to boost even dead batteries and this unique cover means you will never be left anywhere with a flat battery again. The manufacturers claim for every minute of cranking, 5 minutes of talk or text time can be added to the phone.
Reactors initial prototype was manufactured in January 2013 and work is continuing to improve the design. Patents have been applied for and the manufacturers are currently seeking funding via Crowd Supply to enable full-scale production to begin. At time of writing the goal is for $350,000 and Crowd Supply followers have currently pledged $13,234. Still a way to go but we, here at PR, feel this is project that will snowball and gain momentum each and everyday.
Plans are in the pipeline to roll the Reactor case out for other iPhone models and the Samsung Galaxy, whilst the manufactures are also in talks with European distributors to hit the ground running when full-blown production takes off. It can only be a matter of time before this converts to a tablet charger too.
The possibilities for this case are endless, you will never be left without power to your phone ever again, meaning it would be a perfect travelling companion to take anywhere around the world, no longer the need to pack chargers for even overnight stays. You can smugly sit back and know you can crank your phone back to life, although keep the conversation short as it would take 10 minutes of cranking to gain 50 minutes of talk time!
