RCA 7-inch dual-core tablet value with Android 4.2

At the start of the month we pointed you in the direction of a RCA 7-inch tablet that was available for a very cheap price. However, it only featured basic specs and perhaps wasn’t suitable for those that are looking for a lot more performance.

Now, we are pleased to hear that RCA has another budget tablet up their sleeve, the RCA 7″ Dual-Core tablet. This one is the bigger brother of the tablet mentioned above if you like, as this one packs upgraded specs in almost all areas.

For example, the single-core version of RCA’s 7-inch tablet features a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor. However, the new Dual-Core version will instead feature a Dual-Core ARM Cortex-A9 1.2GHz chip instead, offering much better performance all round.

We also see a big change in the operating system as well. While the single-core will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, we’re pleased to report that the Dual-Core offering is going to be loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean instead.

We’re also guessing that both 8GB tablets will be fully upgradeable as well, for those that are familiar with installing custom software. At the moment RCA are advertising this on their website for $99, but don’t be surprised if we see this tablet’s price slashed considerably during the upcoming sales.

Have you owned a product from RCA before? If so, would you recommend consumers taking a risk with a lesser known brand or not? Don’t forget to read the full tech specs here.

Picked one up for $49 at Walmart’s black Friday. Wished I’d have grabbed a couple or
more as it is a fine tablet for the price & they had plenty & were passing them out like
hot cakes. Been plying with it & had I been sure it was going to live up to it’s specs
with as good a build quality as it seems I’d have grabbed more. The only thing I might
complain about so far is the wifi strength/range seems relatively poor,
