Raspberry Pi camera module install experiment

The Raspberry Pi project has been a very interesting one and over the past several months has seen some extraordinary experiments, with the latest one looking at the optional hardware that you are able to install to the device.

One particular piece of hardware to attach to the Raspberry Pi is a camera module, and while this may be just a simple circuit board, it certainly helps to transform the device into something even more special.

We’re told right from the start that there are two Raspberry Pi camera modules to go for, the first offers a HD 5-megapixel sensor, whereas the second comes with improved specs that include an NoIR Infrared unit, making it a perfect module for taking photos in low-light conditions.

Okay, it is clear to see that these two modules are almost the same, albeit from a few minor alterations and so choosing the correct Raspberry Pi camera module comes down to personal taste and need.

It would have been nice to offer a video of this Raspberry Pi camera module install experiment, but you will have to make do with a detailed article thanks to ZDNet.

You might wonder what would be the need of such a set up, and in the conclusion of the experiment we’re told that you could use your Raspberry Pi along with a camera module for a surveillance device, although we are sure you will have your own interesting uses.

The Raspberry Pi project recently won an award for innovation and just shows what can be done with just a simple bit of technology and a desire for making computers more affordable.
