Quick-scoping in Modern Warfare 3: Real skill or paradise for noobs

We have some very important news to bring to gamers all around the world now, particularly those who are planning to pick up Modern Warfare 3. We’re hearing strong rumors right now that the ability to quick scope will be making a return for the upcoming game.

Yes, the very same feature that Treyarch removed for Call of Duty: Black Ops. Apparently, Infinity Ward are keen to retain as much features from MW2 as they possibly can, and quick-scoping remains one of them. Whether it will be welcomed with gamers though is a different matter altogether though.

Check out the following comment from Infinity Ward Community Manager Robert Bowling when asked on Reddit specifically if the controversial feature will be making a return for Modern Warfare 3 or not:

“Currently, you can still quick scope in Modern Warfare 3. Keep in mind though, multiplayer is always changing at this stage (new perks, new balancing, new everything all the time based on feedback), however our philosophy on that hasn’t changed since MW2.”

There in black and white, is his admission that the game features quick-scoping, well in the pre-release build of the game anyway. Considering that we just have around 5 months to go until release, it would seem a pretty drastic move for IW to remove it just on the back of consumer criticism.

Many of you welcomed the idea of no quick-scoping in Black Ops, but how would you feel if it made a return for MW3. Of course, there’s always been the heated debate that quickscoping requires real skill to use, but generally complaints are usually made on how it’s actually a ‘form of exploit’ and as a result, exploited by beginners who are looking for a quick kill.

Personally, I’m not too bothered about this. Being taken out in seconds via quick-scoping with the Intervention rifle in MW2 did become rather annoying I can agree, but once you get used to the game, it’s always easy to take out someout who is quick-scoping anyway – and that’s the bottom line really here. If Infinity Ward decides to put quick-scoping in the game, it’s up to those who feel it shouldn’t be there, to find away around it.

As a fan of the COD franchise, what are your thoughts on the possibility of quick-scoping in Modern Warfare 3? Do you think it is a way of defining ‘real skill’, or is the whole process essentially a paradise for noobs?

I dare people that hate on quickscoping to even try it. Bet they can’t land more than one shot in one life.

im am parkorwv i am very much into “QS” i think it brings the game more youtube views and the deal about qs not taking any skill that is absurd it is ten times harder to qs than to sprey with an ak47 or noob tube  that is what is bull crap it is very easy to launch a grenade across the map with 1 man army and getting a nuke (mw2) that is what takes no skill and on bo it took even more skill with the patch of it and we still were able to do it i think… Read more »

quick scoping is alot of bull and i dont think it should be allowed. makes the game unfair if youv got one guy running around having 20 to 30 kills practically cheating. its not real gameing skill

Yeah actually, some people do quickscope quite well in Black Ops. Although i find it really frustrating just due to the horrible hit detection. The scope will be around a foot to your right, yet the white hit cross comes up and you die. Fix the hit detection and although quick scoping will still annoy me (because come on, running around bringing a sniper rifle up to fire in a hurry is very unrealistic) at least i won’t feel ripped off by lazy programming. While i’m at it, anyone else get annoyed throwing a flash bang, seeing your enemy covering… Read more »

Who says Treyarch removed quick scoping in Black Ops? People still do that sh**

It is making a return, alongside more functional snipers–fourzerotwo already confirmed it on Reddit. Not what if. Not rumored. It’s confirmed. The lack of quick-scoping and terrible hit detection in Black Ops leaves us wanting the old MW and MW2. With the recent patch lag has been significantly reduced, but due to it connections are all out of sync with hit detection–it’s not always about where you are that you shoot, and you’ll get clipped inside buildings from bullets sent a half a second ago. People with better connections and hosts, instead of getting some form of leeway, end up… Read more »

I honestly don’t care.  Yes, it is annoying sometimes when you get quick scoped; it’s also annoying when when you get knifed…it’s part of the game.  Well, it might be an exploit but I’ve never been killed from it enough to find it annoying: unlike something like the n00b tube.  But even then, if people n00b tube I’d shout, and switch to my own noob tube 🙂   The problem with removing it is you gimp the weapon and make it useless.  Cue Blops where it’s virtually impossible to snipe, so everyone ends up with automatic weapons.  If the sniper… Read more »

I’d prefer some more realism is MW3. None of this being able to jump over bullets for kills or while holding a rifle with 2 hands, be able to go prone and keep firing. Like quick scoping, they are just exploits of an outdated engine. I’ll still buy it because there is nothing else as frantic and fun, but more realism as far as aiming and movement would be much appreciated.
