Questionable Budget iPhone eye candy for 2013

With Apple shares still trading below $400, it seems as though the bubble has burst for the time being, as this is the lowest the company has traded since December 2011. Many people believe Apple is going back to their old ways before Steve Jobs took over the helm once again, but it’s sad to know a company was so reliant on just one man — although what a great man he was.

Samsung seems to have the magic touch at the moment, and Motorola is hoping to get a little piece of that action once again, but it’s clear that high-end devices are not as important as they once were. Okay, so we know consumers and business users will still want the latest iPhone, Galaxy, HTC, LG or BlackBerry handset, but it’s the former who seems to have missed out on another lucrative market, and that’s low-end and mid-range phones.

However, if we are to believe numerous rumors then Apple could be about to release what is commonly known as a Budget iPhone, and while we have seen one or two concepts showing what one of these cheaper iPhone models could look like, we have the first leaked shot of what is supposedly the Budget iPhone.

If we are to believe what Tactus is telling us (who recently released images of an iPad 5 case) then the low-cost iPhone looks set to come with a polycarbonate rear cover, which is one way to help reduce cost. Looking at the image it reminds us of a cross between the iPhone 3/3GS and a Nokia Lumia handset.

We know Samsung has come under a huge amount of criticism for using polycarbonate in the past, as well as on their Galaxy S4, and now Apple could use the same material and not be ridiculed for it. However, we have to remember that this could be used in their cheaper iPhone, and so it was obvious Apple would not use the same material as their high-end device.

Again, this is all based on rumor, but an iPhone with a polycarbonate body is very plausible for the budget model.
