Qualcomm dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon Launching Later This Year

When looking at a smartphone one major thing to look at is the processor, Qualcomm’s 1Ghz Snapdragon processor is regarded as one of the best current processors featured in todays handsets, however Qualcomm are planning the release of a faster chips.

Recently it has been announced that Qualcomm plan to release at least two new Snapdragon processors in 2010, these will boast speeds of up to 1.5GHz.

One of the chips will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8X50A, this 45nm chip will be clocked at 1.3Ghz and should be available to manufacturers for sampling later this month.

The other chip is the dual-core Snapdragon, the 8X72, this cheap features two 1.5GHz Scorpion cores, this chip will be capable of 1080p high definition video playback.
