Following the eventful Christmas Day server outages at Sony and Microsoft, it looks like PSN is undergoing maintenance right now on December 26 for what could be a DDOS fix. It’s unclear if this would even be possible, but gamers are wondering why the PS4 and PS3 don’t have measures in place to stop these attacks.
The screenshot below was taken moments ago on a PS4, which displays an error message when trying to access the PlayStation Store on this console. It basically states, “The service is currently undergoing maintenance E-820001F7”.
Product Reviews readers should note that PSN was back up online earlier today, although this latest downtime might be related to Sony maintenance with the aim to combat a DDOS attack. In fact, Sony tweeted just a couple of hours ago that their “technicians are working to fix this issue”.
At the time of writing, Sony’s official PSN status page still reports a red “offline” on Dec 26. There’s no set time for when PSN will be back up today, or if we could see Lizard Squad start another DDOS today.
Is PSN down for you again on Dec 26 and if so, have you managed to get online at all in the last 24 hours?
We already know the likes of EA is working with Sony/Microsoft to get servers back up and running, also we tried to access Call of Duty Advanced Warfare online play and we saw the same error stating, “service not available” just a few moments ago.
