With the frequent nature of PSN servers always going down several times a month, we are pleased to see that Sony has now made it much more transparent when users need to check the official PSN server status website.
Before, the PSN status was highlighted over at the Knowledge Center, but it wasn’t an ideal way to check the status and many users probably didn’t even know it existed.
Now, we can see that Sony has just set up a dedicated PSN server status checker for US and UK, which we’re presuming will now be the definitive method to checking whether the PSN service is up or down.
You will want to bookmark the page straight away first of all. Notice that the page now lists sub categories for different areas of the PSN, such as the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Now and even Video Unlimited.
So now hopefully, you’ll be able to see instances of when the PSN is up for gaming, but down when trying to redeem vouchers or buy something on the PlayStation Store.
It’s a nice move by Sony and we just hope that it will update in realtime, as we’ve seen so many times with status checkers for Rockstar, Microsoft and EA that they are still not in realtime.
