PSN 10% discount code pre-order, PS Plus sadness

We have some important information for all PSN users now. We told you at the start of the month that Sony were planning to give out a PSN 10% discount code to all members as a way of apologising for the PSN downtime over Christmas.

Now, we can see that Sony has updated the exact terms of the discount but it isn’t good news unfortunately. We can now confirm that this 10% discount will not be valid on any future game pre-orders.

For example, if you wanted to pre-order say the new Elder Scrolls Online game for PS4 – you cannot use this 10% code on it. We can also see that the code will not work on new PS Plus subscription purchases either – bad news for those needing to renew and thought that this code will be ok.

In simple terms, you will have to use this code on an existing item that is in the store at the moment – whether that be a game or video product.

The other important information about this one time code is that there will be a time restriction on it. Specifically, you’ll be able to use this discount on Friday January 23 from 9am Pacific Time, to Monday January 26 at 9am Pacific Time.

If you try to use the code after this point, it won’t work sadly. It’s still a nice discount, although some of you may be unhappy that it doesn’t work on pre-orders – which was basically the main attraction.

The question is, what do you see on the PSN now that you want to buy over the weekend? Give us your reaction to this and if you are happy with this compensation package.

Note: The actual discount code will be handed out by Sony on the PS Blog later this week – we’re guessing on Thursday evening PST.
