PS4 vs. Xbox One pre-order game numbers

If you have been looking at the PS4 vs. Xbox One pre-order sales then you would have noticed that Sony’s next-generation console is not up for a day one pre-order anymore, although you can still get a day one Xbox One at the time of writing.

This news in itself is neither new or revealing considering we don’t know how many units either brand has ready for launch, but VGChartz has gathered a few figures to give us some insight into the PS4 vs. Xbox One pre-order game numbers.

The Xbox One and PS4 game sales so far have been tracked and VGChartz deliver an interesting look at how well each launch game is doing for both machines. It is worth pointing out that these figures cannot be trusted 100%, although you will find them a nice indication of what should be expected at launch.

Something we should also point out is that the VGChartz numbers are for United States, which is normally Xbox One territory, so this might be a sad day for Xbox One supporters when you take into account the pre-order game figures and fact that Xbox One is still available to pre-order for a day one delivery.

See more details on these pre-order figures on vgchartz.com, or look at the image below.

Do none of you understand Digital distribution of games? It is Socialism 101. If I only have a game digitally, it WILL NEVER be mine. I can’t trade it, sell it, lend it, nor can I borrow a digital game from my friend. Secondly, the idea that I should just suck it up and pay the developer for new games is rediculous. I will pay those people who work hardest for my dollar and that means the company or store who offers the best deal. Unless you are a socialist and hate big corporations getting money, you understand this is… Read more »

I will pre-order the 3rd one from the MS store today and just hope it gets here by xmas. I hope I will be able to trade the 3 xbox 360’s to gamestop for enough to… Read more »

I want a console I can buy games digitally at a reasonable price. I want to pay considerably less than full price for a game that I don’t physically own. I want to be able to access these games like I can for Netflix; on demand, streaming from the system’s HD not the ‘cloud’ regardless if I’m online at the time. I don’t like paywalls, but don’t mind paying for a meaningful service that offers increasing value over time. I respect copyright material, but I want the ability to buy, sell, and trade whatever ‘licenses’ I am given for my… Read more »

Killzone is killing it, CoD is going up because of dedicated servers but it appears that BF is still the FPS choice for PS gamers. Driveclub doesnt seem to have hit the mark with gamers, I believe because not enough has been shown to convince and theres a free copy with PSplus. What is most interesting is the gap for Watchdogs and how low on the list overhyped Titanfall is :/

What’s interesting is Sony suggests they are slings ten of millions more PS4 than Xbox One’s so the numbers about, if true suggest no one is buying PS4 games but instead bundle packaged PS4’s. Lets see how many ppl actually buy the consoles and games before we come to conclusions as there are tons who have pre ordered a PS4 to only resale on EBay, ordered just in case they didn’t know which one to choose from or just to pre-order but have no chance of paying. (I managed games stores during the two console releases so that is where… Read more »

Watchdogs is the biggest difference in terms of sales as of now, Assassin’s Creed has a big boost as well. All the other games are fairly close, some a bit over 20,000. PS4 is looking to hold the crown with the momentum PS3 has picked up the last 2 or so years.

Not a good way to track preorders considering a lot of people will be buying digital over physical for the Xbox one because of the digital perks that come with those purchases.
