PS4 Vs Xbox One lead so far in Sony’s words

Are you happy with the console you bought last year with regards to the PS4 and Xbox One launch consoles? Sony appears to be in a very good place at the moment, as we’ve heard from the company this week talking about the ‘lead’ that they have gained over Microsoft’s console.

While you may disagree with how the current next-gen console war is going, Sony are very confident it seems. It’s no surprise that the system is a massive step up from the PS3 experience, but in Sony’s opinion their secret to success is all down to listening to developers.

Sony’s Fergal Gera has given an interview this week, revealing that the PS4’s great start since November is due to listening specifically to want developers wanted to see with the new system.

A quote on the current status of the PS4 according to Gara:

“It is as simple as that. PS4 is much easier to develop for, and it is performing and packing the punch that developers want. We came up with the right product at the right price, for the right core audience to get us off to a strong start. We think we’ve done that very, very well.”

A lot has been made about the PC-like architecture underneath the hood and there’s no doubt that developers now seem to treat the PS4 with open arms, perhaps in a different way that we didn’t see during the PS3 era.

Is the PS4 easier to develop on, compared to the Xbox One though? That’s the interesting question which we’ll find out over the space of this year – bear in mind that the PS4 also appears to have an edge when it comes to outputting at full 1080P HD, where the Xbox One has been shown to struggle in this department.

It’s all down to personal preference of course, but it definitely looks like the battle is going to be a much closer affair compared to previous-gen.

What do you think of Sony’s confidence? Are you very happy with your PS4 right now?
