This is just a quick update for our readers in the UK and USA still looking to get an Xbox One or PS4 before Christmas. In the UK, we contacted GAME and they claim the guarantee is still in place on all Xbox One and PS4 pre-orders, which means you should still get hands-on with either next-generation console if you pre-order today.
If you want an Xbox One or PS4 at launch, then you will certainly not get a Sony PS4 on its release date if you pre-order now but you can try and line up at one of the midnight launches taking place in the UK or USA. There’s a good chance you could pickup a PS4 or Xbox One at one of these midnight launch parties if you leave in a remote area, so those of you living in big cities or towns might need to queue many hours before midnight.
In the UK a deposit of £20 is required with GAME, although a store like GameStop has been taking $100 in the US. GAME told us that they would put a deposit towards something else if you chose to cancel, so this meant a number of people pre-ordered both Xbox One and PS4 if they weren’t sure.
In a nutshell, retailers in both the UK and USA will have a limited amount of PS4 and Xbox One stock on shelves for the launch. You can try and be one of the lucky ones if you don’t mind lining up, so this is a good last resort if the before Christmas guarantee stops in the next few days. Right now, you can pre-order and still get in time for the holidays.
How bad do you want the PS4 or Xbox One before Christmas? If you pre-ordered, how long in advance did you place an order?
