PS4 4.55 update notes with Sony surprise

We can confirm that you can now download a new PS4 update 4.55 as of April 11, 2017. For those asking what is new with PS4 system software 4.55, you may be disappointed but we are still surprised with one aspect of Sony’s update.

This is the first time that we have seen Sony jump ahead on so many PS4 revision numbers at once. The previous update was 4.50 but now Sony has decided to jump ahead to 4.55 without saying why.

Unfortunately if you were thinking that this would due to it being another major firmware update you will be wrong.

The only PS4 4.55 update notes that Sony has delivered is “This system software update improves the quality of the system performance.”

Nothing more and nothing less so it is a jump up in revision numbers just for a stability patch. The update should be around 324MB so let us know if you also received this update in your area on both PS4 and PS4 Pro.

Are you also surprised with the jump in version numbers just for a 300MB stability update? Let us know if you are disappointed below and what you want to see next in terms of actual features.
