We know that PS4 owners are desperate for Sony to deliver on the highly anticipated PS4 2.0 update release date. We talked about the anxiety that some gamers had with the silence regarding the update, but now we can bring you a small update of sorts that should lift spirits somewhat.
Sony never placed a set timeline for when the PS4 2.0 firmware update would go live. The only hint of a schedule was that it would be coming in Fall sometime.
September is well and truly over as you know and until now we have not heard a word from Sony regarding the update in October. That has now changed as we’ve spotted SCEE Blog Manager Fred Dutton drop a teaser that it could be on the way very soon.
When scrolling through the comments of a recent PS Blog content update, we found the following when Dutton replied to one user question:
“I can’t comment on new hardware features today, other than to say that [updates] are always in the works — as previously announced there’s a big PS4 update just round the corner that we’ll be talking more about soon.”
It doesn’t take a genius to work out that the update that he is referring to is PS4 update 2.0 and it is new information to us that it is ‘just around the corner’.
We can imagine that Sony need longer to ensure that it is 100% ready to go, what with Share Play being such a ground-breaking feature for the system and in our opinion, a real game changer.
Are you excited about the PS4 2.0 release time which is now around the corner? Let us know what else you are hoping to see in the update.
