PS4 1.70 update close to release time

We are moving closer towards the highly anticipated PS4 1.70 update release time. Fans have been kept waiting over the last week, but we now know it is coming very soon and Sony has confirmed this with a fresh preview of the PS4 1.70 firmware update.

This update has been quite a long time in the making, but for the first time in a while it is a update that can be classified as ‘worthwhile’, with Sony finally giving PS4 owners some brand new functionality to enjoy.

One big portion of the update will give users access to the ShareFactory, the video editing software which we previously told you about here. However, thanks to some new details via the PlayStation Blog, we now know about some other big PS4 1.70 new features that are coming as well.

These include an auto-download function for pre-ordered games. With 1.70, Sony will allow users the option of turning on an auto-download setting in the menu for all games pre-ordered. This means that your PS4 console will automatically start downloading and install a pre-ordered game, four days before release.

This then allows PS4 users to play a pre-ordered game the minute the release time goes live and everyone won’t have to wait until the early hours to install content as previous history has showed. It could end up being a massive feature of the PS4 and one that should make a lot of users happy.

In addition, Sony has also confirmed that videos created with the ShareFactory can be exported to USB and ready to sent to other services – essentially giving PS4 owners quick access to PS4 YouTube uploads, another massive request from the community.

Once the PS4 YouTube app is finally ready, we’re guessing PS4 video shares can be made directly but for now this is a great alternative.

Sony are only willing to say that the update is coming ‘soon’, but we have a feeling that it could go live early next week. Also remember that we reported on rumors recently suggesting that the PS4 1.70 release date would specifically be live on April 30.

Let us know which area you are most looking forward to using with the long awaited PS4 1.70 update.Any requests for the future after the update lands?
