PS3 XMB menu issues continue in 2014

It looks like a number of PS3 XMB menu issues are being reported still, even in 2014, and these include freezing along with the disc icon not showing up. These problems go all the way back to the 4.45 update which has caused many problems for frustrated players.

The PS3 XMB menu has suffered with various issues in the past, but in reality they should all have been fixed by now. A number of unhappy PS3 owners have made their problems known on the PlayStation forums, with the download of the 4.43 update being blamed for some of the issues.

A member on the forums claimed to have experienced freezing issues and then a corruption to the system storage facilities. Believing the issue to be with the PS3’s hard drive a replacement was fitted and the console worked fine until the 4.53 filmware update was downloaded. Afterwards the freezing issue returned which implies that there is either a problem within the update or a separate hardware fault.

Another user opened a new thread, having trouble with the disc icon not appearing, one of the more common PS3 XMB menu issues going around. The suspected problem was a burnt out Blu Ray laser which again was replaced but only temporarily fixed the issue before it came back. Sony need to look in to these problems more closely and release a new update to help struggling PS3 owners, not diverting full attention to the PS4.

Have you experienced any of these problems with your PS3? Leave a comment below if you have and share your troubles with other gamers who are in the same situation.
