PS3, Xbox 360 and PC Black Ops Double XP Weekend Starts Friday

PS3 gamers will undoubtedly be looking forward to downloading the First Strike map pack on Thursday, now we can confirm that this weekend will be Call of Duty: Black Ops double XP weekend for all platforms, this was recently revealed by Treyarch’s community manager on Twitter.

JD 2020’s recent tweet read “#CODBlackOps #DoubleXP #ThisWeekend #AllPlatforms”, we was quite surprised with this as it means that Xbox 360 gamers get their second double XP one month after their last, which some PS3 and PC gamers will undoubtedly be less than impressed with.

As usual we do not know what time the double XP weekend will start, however gamers should have the best part of 70 hours or so to rank up, having missed the double XP weekend last time I think my Xbox 360 will be getting used a lot this weekend.

Lately there has been a lot of confusion surrounding the countdown timer, with the First Strike map pack hitting the PlayStation Network in two days time and a double XP scheduled for this weekend we have already had our fair share of Call of Duty news this week, however we could be in for some more. We are led to believe that it is not Modern Warfare 3 related an perhaps a hoax, however it seems like to me as if some sort of viral marketing campaign, the countdown finishes tomorrow so all should be revealed.

Update: All platforms obviously means that Nintendo Wii gamers will enjoy double XP weekend to!
